Celebrity bookmark auction

1st Burley-in-Wharfedale Brownies have today, 9 May, launched the Bookmark Project where doodles from a whole host on famous names go under the hammer.

Earlier in the year the brownies and leaders asked their favourite actors, authors, presenters and illustrators to create a unique bookmark for the project, celebrities taking part include Julia Donaldson, Dawn French, Sir Patrick Stewart, Jo Brand, Emma Thompson, Brian May, Anita Dobson, Katherine Rundell, Alison Brown, Nick East and the cast of Casualty.

Money raised from the auction will go to support projects at Katiyo Primary School in the Honde Valley in Zimbabwe, the brownies have supported the school for the past 17 years and hope to provide electricity for the on-site teacher housing.
