Book marks 400th anniversary of Ilkley Grammar School

Olicana’s Children was written by former head teacher, Peter Wood, to mark the 400th anniversary of Ilkley Grammar School.  It tells the story of how a village school, established in 1607 through the determination of local people, developed into the 21st century specialist school which stands today on Cowpasture Road.

It is a story which reflects the history of this part of the Wharfe valley, as well as wider social, educational and political priorities. Above all, it is a celebration of the countless people who have played a part in the life and work of the school through the changes and challenges of four centuries.

Sales of ‘Olicana’s Children’ will boost revenue for the school fund and is currently on offer at the reduced price of £9.99 (previously £18.00) from The Grove Bookshop or IGS reception on Cowpasture Road.
