Ilkley Carnival reveals “At The Movies” theme for 2017!

Paparazzi are at the ready!! This year's Ilkley Carnival theme is “At The Movies” and the carnival committee is hoping to see The Grove transformed into a red carpet strewn with movie stars as part of the event’s spectacular parade.

Ilkley Carnival is on Monday 1st May and begins with the parade starting at 11am on The Grove and ending at the showground at East Holmes Field where headline acts, children’s activities, a fairground and local stalls are available. All profits raised go back into the local community and beneficiary applications are welcome, for more details check www.ilkleycarnival.org.

Ilkley Carnival Committee Chairman Andrew Stacey said: “Last year’s ‘Best of British’ theme was a huge hit but we are confident that ‘At The Movies’ has the potential to inspire an even greater array of costumes given the number of movie genres that exist.”

He added: “The theme announcement is only the start of our countdown to the May event and we are planning to draw an even bigger crowd into the town this year. Last year we had over 10,000 visitors and this year we’re aiming to increase that figure yet again.”
