The day before Ilkley Carnival once again saw 100 children and families from the LS29 and AWARE support groups enjoy two hours of free rides.
The special Sunday funday courtesy of Marshalls Amusements/Ridezone Plus, who operate the funfair, started in 2012 when LS29 were chosen to be the main beneficiary of the Carnival. It was such a success that it has taken place at every Carnival since then.
Penny Southgate on behalf AWARE said: “This event is wonderful for the children and is so appreciated by our families. Some children would struggle with the crowds on the main Carnival day so this allows them to enjoy all the fun at their own pace. It also provides some quality time with their siblings and families. I have received so many comments from families asking me to thank Darran, Deana from Marshalls and all of the ride operators.”
Ilkley Town Mayor Councillor Mark Stidworthy said: "I was delighted to join the group briefly at the start of their time on Sunday. I would like to thank the funfair owners and sponsor for their kindness in creating this special opportunity, each year, for these local young people to share in the fun and companionship of the wider Carnival."
Local business Aireborough Skip Hire provided sponsorship so that the children also received some sweets as part of the occasion.
