Ilkley Grammar PTA plans its most ambitious fundraiser yet

Ilkley Grammar School’s Parent Teachers Association (PTA) is running Ilkley’s first ever Colour Rush on 26 June this year as a major fundraising event.

Participants in the inaugural Ilkley Colour Rush will be able to run, jog, walk, hop, skip or jump around a lapped course on the IGS playing fields whilst being covered in colourful paint, made from corn starch powder.

Jane Wearing, Chair of IGS PTA said: “There will be a Zumba warm up and paint party with local fitness instructor, Emma Draper, Rombalds Radio will be MC'ing, plus United Education have agreed to bring along free Bubble Football for people to try out. By the time participants finish the course, they will look like a rainbow!”

Commenting on how the PTA is looking to spend the money Jane added: “This year, the PTA is looking to further enhancement of the mental health and wellbeing support provided to students who have faced so many challenges during the pandemic. There is also the ambition to purchase equipment to support the work of the creative arts department at school (art, music, photography and drama) - an area which struggles to attract funding nationally, but which IGS is committed to supporting and developing further over the coming years through ever-more ambitious and exciting creative projects.”

The Colour Rush is shaping up to be a fantastic family event and tickets are now on sale via the school website, where you can also find out lots more useful information about the event at www.ilkleygrammarschool.com/parents/pta/colour-rush/. Refreshments will also be available.

When buying tickets, you can buy extra paint sachets so you can start getting colourful during the pre-race warm up and paint party.

Businesses showing support to the event are Dacre, Son & Hartley, Siddons & Co Financial Planning, Pure Pilates Ilkley, United Education, Balloon World, Ison Harrison solicitors and Yorkshire Hot Tubs.

The PTA are also looking for volunteers to help at the event – marshals on the day and lots of people to help with set up and clear up. You can volunteer via the ticketing page or by contacting the PTA via pta@ilkleygs.co.uk
