Ilkley Soroptimists display highlights domestic abuse campaign

Ilkley Soroptimists have this week decorated an area along the Grove and around the bandstand with orange bunting and pompoms to help create more awareness of the international campaign to bring domestic abuse against girls and women to an end.

A spokesperson said: “Groups of women across the world chose the colour orange to draw attention to the appalling sexual abuse suffered by women and girls at the hands, mostly of men. November 25th is the date on which women demand its end.”

November 25th marks as commencement of 16 days of action.

Information posters are located around the bandstand and in shop windows.

Soroptimist International is a leading global women’s organisation with 80,000 members in over 100 countries around the world. To get in touch with Ilkley Soroptimists visit www.sigbi.org/ilkley
