Ilkley resident Jenna Mallinson has won a luxury holiday for two to any destination in the world after entering a competition.
Jenna, 77, who teaches Rock ‘n’ Roll, in Keighley, said: “I have a huge passion for travel, so to win this prize is incredible and I’m going to share it with my sister. I’m not sure where we’ll go just yet, but current thoughts are Morocco.”
The member of Ilkley Croquet Club started to book her holidays through Holidaysplease after she lost her husband in October 2017.
Sarah McCulley, her Holidaysplease travel agent, said: “Jenna wanted to be away for the first anniversary of her husband’s passing, but didn’t wish to travel alone.
“The Intrepid Travel packages were perfect for her and she has since been on a number of trips with them, taking in destinations such as Cuba and India.
Jenna said: “I love travelling and I love to experience life as a local and meeting wonderful people along the way. The Intrepid Travel trips enable me to explore worldwide destinations safely and the beauty of them is that they attract people of all ages, whose stories I enjoy immensely.
Her recent holiday win will add to an impressive list of places Jenna is to visit in the next 12 months, including Borneo, South Africa and Saudi Arabia, where both her sister and mother have worked in the past.
When asked where she got travel bug from, Jenna said: “I probably got it from my mother as she has always loved to travel.
“In fact, when I said I was booking a trip to China some years ago, my mother was quick to say she would join me – at 80 years young! She has recently celebrated her 100th birthday and I truly believe it is her own lust for life that keeps her so young.”
Jenna is excited to be able to travel again and is certainly going to make the most of it as the world begins to open up once again.
The competition was held by Intrepid Travel, Hays Travel and Turkish Airlines.
