3 days 2 men 1 goal charity challenge

Ilkley based Chartered financial planner Lee Windle completed the Yorkshire three peaks, three times in a row last weekend over for charity.  This is a distance of almost 120km and 15,600 ft of ascent.

Lee arranged the charity event with his friend John Lee. They were initially hoping to raise £1,000 and they’re now at almost £5,000 (including gift aid). They also matched the first £500 of contributions.

Lee said, ‘The event went really well from start to finish. We were a little bit apprehensive prior to the challenge as we had never done anything like this before. We’re just two average guys, who decided to organise a charity challenge to make a positive difference and to help others. We were joined by a few different friends each day and that really helped us get round’.

‘The weather was also very kind to us. Luckily our bodies held up well to this significant challenge, especially our feet and fortunately we didn’t get any blisters! I would just also like to say a massive thank you to those that have kindly donated so far and also for the brilliant support and words of encouragement we’ve received. The support has been amazing and it really helped us complete the challenge. We’re delighted with the amount we’ve managed to raise so to help these charities when they need it most’.

The charities being are Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, British Heart Foundation and Motor Neurone Disease Association. They’ve set up a charity page with Virgin Money Giving. Lee and John are also paying their own costs so all the money goes to their chosen charities. Any donations are gratefully received and these can help make a massive difference to people’s lives. If anyone does wish to donate they can go online on Virgin Money Giving and search for Lee Windle. Alternatively, if they wish to donate via cheque they can contact Lee Windle on 07850 313763.
