A team from Ilkley Town FC’s u7s have enjoyed some great games either side of the Christmas holiday and picked up more silverware. Firstly before Christmas, they were invited to play at Manchester United’s development centre in Bradford where they played two games against the team from the red half of Manchester. The games were fun, thoroughly enjoyable and the players acquitted themselves really well. Then after Christmas, the team were invited to play in the Soccerhub Christmas tournament in Skipton. This tournament included grassroot football teams from our local rivals to academy sides travelling from as far as Liverpool. The team managed to collect their second piece of silverware this season, having achieved victory in the previous summer Soccerhub tournament. Team coach Andrew Shepherd said: "In 2022, the u7s will be playing in 3 leagues, including a team in the Garforth League, which is one of the most competitive leagues in the region. This will mean that our players, nearly 40 in total, will always have access to playing league games throughout the rest of the season.
"We train on a Saturday morning and also runs training sessions on a Thursday. Anyone wishing to come along is welcome. We’re really looking forward to the next steps in our footballing journey."
