Two Rivers Bands get busy for Ilkley Arts Festival

Two Rivers Swing Band have two upcoming concerts as part of the 2022 Ilkley Arts Festival.


The band will be holding one of their popular Dance events at Ilkley's Winter Garden on Friday 25th November featuring three sets full of big band favourites and sparkling vocals, plus jive lessons by Bradford based 2/- Jive will be sure to have everyone dancing the night away. Doors open at 7.30pm. Music and dancing start from 8pm.


Musical Director and star trumpet player Trevor Vincent said “We’re really looking forward to another Two Rivers Winter Garden success, and also to working with dance teachers Debbie and Mark from 2/- Jive again. The Band is playing really well at the moment and we’ve learned some new numbers specially for the occasion. It should be a great night.”


Tickets cost £15 and are now on sale via the Band website www.tworiversbands.org.uk and are also available from Grove Bookshop.


The band will also make a contribution to the Festival with their 2022 Winter Concert at All Saints Church, Ilkley the following weekend on Saturday 3rd December with doors open at 7pm and the music starting at 7.30pm.


Musical Director Mike O’Farrell has planned a varied and entertaining evening including music from Lincolnshire (“A Lincolnshire Posy” by Percy Grainger) and Mexico (“Danzon No 2” by Arturo Marquez) as well as items with a festive feel.


There will be two special guest appearances at the Concert, Young trumpeter Freddie Taylor will play the Trumpet Concerto in G minor by Oscar Böhme and the Choir of All Saints CoE Primary School.


Admission costs only £10 including programme and interval drinks plus delicious cakes baked by Band members. Tickets can be purchased in advance online via www.tworiversbands.org.uk or from Grove Bookshop. They will also be available on the door. Young people aged 16 and under can attend free.


There will be a charity collection in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society, one of the three charities which Band members have voted to support.


Two Rivers Bands Chair Les Goldman said: “We’re returning to the beautiful setting of All Saints Church for another Winter Concert. We’re delighted with how the Band has progressed over the last year and are particularly excited to be developing our collaboration with All Saints Primary School, which started when we played at the school’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in May. We owe a big thanks to Ilkley Arts Festival for their continued support.”
