Local company wins approval for gluten-free sausages

Burley in Wharfedale based artisan sausage maker, Michael Oliver, is now licensed by Coeliac UK to carry the crossed grain symbol on his all natural sausages.  This means that the all-natural free range sausages are certified gluten free.

The process to certification involved strenuous lab testing for each sausage product and Michael’s company Primal Cut was successful in securing EU funding to complete this part of the process with York based laboratory, FERA Science. 

The company was then audited and inspected before receiving the news earlier this week.

Michael says: “Getting the approval was hard work though worth it as it is important to us to give those who need gluten free food the confidence in our products.”
