Call Me Dusty

A play with music performed by touring theatre company, LYM Productions
Dusty Springfield was without doubt the finest white soul singer of her era - for millions she was the definitive pop diva. Her lifestyle was the stuff of legend – and great drama.
With her relentless quest for perfection and refusal to compromise, Dusty Springfield led a tortured life. Her stage persona – extravagant black mascara and back combed hair – was at odds with the quiet, shy convent girl, Mary O’Brien and her sexuality. The result was a downward spiral of drugs, alcohol-abuse and self-harm but despite all that she produced tremendous music, which still ranks as some of the finest of its kind.
The story is as valid today as it was in the 1960’s by documenting the transient effects of fame and the damage it can do.

Brotherhood Of Troubadours

Three acclaimed singer/songwriters share the stage - Nick Hall, Jon Palmer and Baz Warne. Each has an established pedigree of performing solo, and with bands.

When they share the stage to sing their own songs, a kind of magic happens which doesn't occur in a solo performance! Spontaneous backing vocals and accompaniment break forth, as well as a fair amount of banter and anecdotes, and possibly a rousing, foot-stomping ensemble number at the end.

There are currently 4 brothers (with a few waiting in the wings to join!); but you'll only get 3 in a show. Brotherhood of Troubadours is not a band. It's possibly a 'music collective', definitely a 'Song Writers Circle'. It's definitely a great way to experience their music.

Singin' In The Rain

Singin’ in the Rain is the perfect, potent pick-me-up in these apparently interminable grey days of anxiety and gloom. It will lift your spirits and send you dancing round Ilkley with an inane grin of pleasure on your face. The show’s success is all the more startling because, although the famous 1952 MGM movie is perhaps the greatest and most beloved of all big screen musicals, this stage version takes off in startling and delightful new directions of its own through broad buoyant humour and a delightfully tuneful score.

Performances 7-18 June (exc. Sun 12) at 7.30pm, extra matinee on Saturday 18 June at 2.30pm.
