Yorkshire Water has announced that major works on the A65 Skipton Road in Ilkley have been finished nearly two weeks ahead of schedule.

The project, linked to a new development on Skipton Road, began on 27 July and was originally planned to end on 21 August. Crews wrapped up over the past weekend, and the road is now fully open to traffic.

The project’s successful close provides a boost for local commuters, businesses, and residents who have faced major disruptions in recent weeks.

A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: "We know that our work has been disruptive over the last two weeks, and we really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. We’ve done our best to respond to complaints around the disruption by constantly manning the lights and changing the layout of the site, but mostly, by speeding up our work schedule so that were able to return things to normal much sooner than expected.”

Over the previous week, a second team from contract partners, Avove, joined the existing team to work on site simultaneously, and working hours were extended. Yorkshire Water also accelerated reinstatement of the road and brought forward elements of testing and commissioning the pipework.
