Acclaimed Ilkley trumpeter Shannon Gateley will perform solo with the Airedale Symphony Orchestra for a spectacular afternoon of music in Ilkley.

Music lovers are invited to the King’s Hall, Ilkley, on Sunday 22 November 2026 for Echoes Through Time – an inspiring afternoon of orchestral music exploring history, tradition and the enduring power of musical legacy.

The concert opens at 3pm with the luminous, contemplative beauty of Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis—a masterpiece that weaves Renaissance choral lines into a rich, atmospheric tapestry for strings.

The orchestra will then welcome a very special soloist, Ilkley-based trumpeter Shannon Gateley, performing Arutiunian’s exhilarating Trumpet Concerto. Combining vibrant Armenian folk influences with dazzling virtuosity, the concerto promises a thrilling change of pace and a showcase for the instrument's full expressive range.

A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Shannon has performed at both the BBC Proms and the Edinburgh International Festival and is also leader of Airedale Symphony Orchestra’s trumpet section,

The orchestra is delighted to have the opportunity to showcase Shannon’s exceptional artistry, energy and musicianship in this spectacular concerto.

The afternoon concludes with the dramatic sweep and emotional depth of Brahms’ Symphony No. 4—a monumental work of intensity, elegance, and profound expression.
