The owners of the Banyan chain, Arc Inspirations, has announced the closure of its bar and restaurant in Ilkley.
Banyan took over the Brook Street unit in 2017 when Wildwood closed. Previously it had been a clothing store, Dorothy Perkins and Burton.
A statement on the company’s website said: “Banyan Ilkley is now permanently closed. Thank you so much for your custom over the years, we've loved being part of this wonderful community and have made so many friends. Don't be a stranger, we'd love to continue to welcome you to our Banyan bars in Leeds city centre, Roundhay and Harrogate. Team Banyan"
Comments to the news on the Ilkley Chat Facebook page suggest another restaurant and bar chain, Cosy Club, would be opening.
Early this week, another restaurant in town announced it was closing, Sachi's in the Moors Shopping Centre. Posting a statement on its Facebook page: "With a heavy heart we are announcing that SACHI’S Restaurant in Moor Shopping Centre, Ilkley will be permanently closed from today (Tuesday). The decision has came after lots of careful thought about huge Rent and overheads."
