Book of Clarke Foley memories published

Clarke Foley Centre 40 years old (Credit: Mike Dixon)

It is 40 years since Clarke Foley in Ilkley officially opened its doors, much has changed over that period.

In 2020 during lockdown Ann Whitehouse, a director of the centre at the time, had the idea of celebrating the event by compiling a book of memories.

A call went out to those who had worked there, either as staff or volunteers and also to visitors to put down memories of their connections with the centre. Ann, together with two volunteers, Jane Forster and Pam Wilson collated all the stories that came in and put them together for publication.

The book also contains some of the history behind its origins and development over the years of the centre on Cunliffe Road.

It will be available for sale price £10 at the Martin House Children’s Hospice charity Christmas Fair on Saturday 27 November 2021, 10am to 12noon, at the Clarke Foley Community Centre. All monies raised from the book will go to Clarke Foley.
