Coach Trip star to make stop in Wharfedale!

Brendan Sheerin will be live at Ghyll Royd School in July

Channel 4’s Brendan Sheerin will be on stage this July at Ghyll Royd School in Burley-in-Wharfedale hosting the very first show since the school’s new theatre seats were installed.

The international tour guide and host of travel game show Coach Trip will be appearing in ‘On the Sofa with Brendan Sheerin’, sharing stories from his West Yorkshire beginnings to finding fame in his fifties!

The event will be held on Saturday 10 July 2021, with doors opening at 6pm before a two-hour interview with interval, followed by a Q&A segment, finishing at 9pm.

The one-off event is set to launch Ghyll Royd School’s new tiered theatre seats which Brendan launched the fundraising for back in 2017. Pantomime star Brendan will be under the spotlight as former BBC Reporter Marcia Nattress asks questions about his life to share with audience of 200 people.

Ghyll Royd Headteacher David Martin said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome Brendan back to Ghyll Royd for this very special event. He helped start the fundraising for our ‘Theatre of Dreams’ and now we have come full circle as we unveil the seating in this very special event. When Brendan met the children and staff back in 2017, we were blown away by all his magnificent stories of life abroad and performing on stage. The evening is set to be one of intrigue and fun as Brendan is an enthusiastic and interesting speaker. Anyone with an interest in travel or television does not want to miss this fantastic event!”

Tickets for the event are available through Eventbrite, with floor and tiered seating options available. There will be a bar selling refreshments one hour before the show start time and during the interval.

All proceeds from tickets and drinks sales will be poured back into the school’s theatre to support young creatives and their performances, as well as enhance the viewing and performances for groups in the local community.

There will also be a raffle to win a personalised, signed copy of Brendan Sheerin’s book ‘My Life: A Coach Trip Adventure’ and a photograph with the man himself on stage.
