Though Ilkley Manor House has been closed since earlier this year the team has been giving thought to what they can deliver when they will be able to open the house to visitors again.
Sarah Thomas, Chair of the Manor House Trust, explains one of the current ideas:
"We will work with the community to produce a sewn lockdown quilt which tells the story of the lockdown for Ilkley and the surrounding area."
"We want to ask anyone in the community - and you don’t need to be an amazing needle person just someone who would like to be part of the project - that you sew, applique, embroider, paint, stencil or whatever takes your fancy an image that encapsulates your lockdown experience on a square of fabric."
"We will then arrange for the squares to be put together as a wonderful community quilt.
The quilt or quilts will then be put on display in the Manor House later in 2021 for everyone to come and enjoy."
Sarah finished by adding: "We hope that this project will be a creative way of capturing some of the memories of this period in our town’s history"
