Excitement as Ilkley Beer Festival returns

The 14th Ilkley Beer Festival took place in the King’s Hall and Winter Garden on Friday and Saturday with a record amount of beer being supped over four sessions.

The 2022 event, organised by Ilkley and District Round Table, was a welcome return with two thousand, four hundred people attending the event to enjoy a fantastic selection of beers, ciders, wines and gins. Over the weekend, a record number of pints were supped, and food was provided by Lishman’s of Ilkley with over three thousand pork pies, sausage rolls and pasties being enjoyed over the weekend.

Trevor Yong, Chairman of the Ilkley and District Round Table said: “as a group we are so excited to have been able to hold this event this year, and we all felt its absence keenly, particularly throughout the challenges of the past two years. Typically this event raises around £40,000 which enables us to support charities and good causes across our areas. Beneficiaries of this funding include support groups such as LS29 for families of children with special needs, AWARE for families of children and young adults on the autistic spectrum, as well as various sports clubs, societies and local projects.

"None of this is possible without the support provided by our local community and once again we would like to thank everyone who attended the event, the management and staff at the King’s Hall and Winter Garden, the breweries who supported the event and the army of volunteers that are needed to put on an event of this size.”

It wasn’t all drinking beer and eating pork pies, live music was provided at the festival by local performers Northern Epidemic, Alex Eva and Back Chat Brass. The event felt like a celebration and a welcome return after not being possible in 2021. For all that enjoyed the event and anyone who missed it, the festival will return in 2023 for its 15th year.
