Excitement builds for the XO Fitness Ilkley Half in July

Ilkley Half Marathon is back on Sunday 14th July

The XO Fitness Ilkley Half Marathon is back and better than ever, scheduled for Sunday, 14th July.

This eagerly anticipated event, organised by the Ilkley and District Round Table, promises to be a fun-filled day, offering something for everyone while supporting local charities and community projects.

The XO Fitness Ilkley Half Marathon 2024 is expected to attract over 2,500 entries, more than ever before! This much-loved and anticipated event showcases the true spirit of community, endurance, and philanthropy. Entirely volunteer-run and 100% non-profit, the half marathon is on track to raise over £50k for local good causes this year.

Adding to the excitement is the vibrant Event Village, open to the general public, which promises a fantastic atmosphere for all attendees. The village will be buzzing with live music, trendy food and drink vendors, and a host of activities for children, including inflatables and games. It’s the perfect opportunity for families and friends to come together and enjoy a memorable day out, whether they are participating in the race or cheering on the runners.

Due to overwhelming demand, only 100 tickets remain available for the half marathon. Prospective participants are urged to sign up as soon as possible to secure their spot and avoid disappointment. The popularity of the event is a testament to the community’s enthusiasm and support.

Ilkley and District Round Table say it is thrilled to announce XO Fitness as the Headliner & Nutrition Sponsor. Founded by local entrepreneurs Chris and Harry, XO Fitness is dedicated to enhancing community development and promoting health and well-being. Building on the success of their CrossFit Skipton venture, Chris and Harry opened XO Fitness in January 2024 at The Moors shopping complex in Ilkley. Their expansion into Ilkley this past year highlights their dedication to Ilkley and its residents. For more information about XO Fitness and its contributions, please visit XO Fitness.

This year organisers have made several improvements to benefit runners, spectators, and local residents:

  • The Start Line has been moved to allow runners to access the start assembly directly from the Event Village.

  • A new Town Centre Loop in Ilkley has been added to make the first mile of the race even more electric for runners and spectators.

  • Run Pacers will be available to help participants achieve their running goals and assist with positioning in the start assembly.

  • A new Car Park at Ilkley Tennis Club will reduce congestion, especially for runners driving from the West.

  • New Music Spots will enhance the atmosphere around our beautiful course.

  • Special provisions for both Elite and Slower runners will help reduce their stress on the day.

  • An expanded array of runner prizes for 2024 will reward participants across various categories.

Michael Odell, the Race Director, expressed his gratitude: "We are overwhelmed by the support from our community, volunteers, and local businesses. Your dedication and enthusiasm make the Ilkley Half Marathon a truly special event. Together, we are not only creating a memorable race day but also making a significant impact on local charities and community projects."

As race day approaches, the Ilkley and District Round Table extends heartfelt thanks to all volunteers, sponsors, and participants. We are set to create a day filled with joy, achievement, and community pride.
