First post-lockdown concert for Ilkley Choral Society

Ilkley Choral Society is delighted to welcome back friends and supporters of the Society at its first concert in 18 months on 13 November at St Margaret’s Church in Ilkley.

A spokesperson for the society said: “It seems a long time since we sang Handel’s “Israel in Egypt” in March, 2020. Perhaps it was us singing about plagues and pestilences that brought on the pandemic!

“We are sure you will want to come and support us in a concert fitting for Remembrance Weekend . We will be singing Mozart’s “Requiem Mass”, some Bruckner Motets and pieces by our guest soloists who are Marie Claire Breen (sop), Jessica Conway (mezzo), Sam Madden (tenor), Graham McCusker (bass). The performance will be conducted by our Musical Director, Jennifer Sterling, and the organist will be Robert Sudall.

“We will be undertaking this concert under Covid Prevention protocols. Therefor there will be no refreshments at the interval for this concert. We will use alternate rows of seats, but you may sit together on rows which are being used. We advise you to wear a mask during the concert – but the choir won’t be wearing theirs! The church will be heated but also adequately ventilated.

“As always, we will be joined by our sister chorus, the Otley Choral Society.”

The concert starts at 7pm on Saturday 13 November. Tickets are available at £15, under 18s and full time students £5, which includes a programme.

They are available from members, The Grove Bookshop, Brown’s Art Gallery in Otley and online ilkleychoralmozartrequiem.eventbrite.co.uk. They will also be available on the night.
