Residents of Ilkley and Ben Rhydding are invited by the Friends of Ilkley Rail Station (FOIRS) to an open meeting to learn more about their work and future plans.

The volunteer led, charity run FOIRS, is dedicated to improving and celebrating Ilkley’s railway heritage, and will host the meeting at the Clarke Foley Community Hub on Wednesday 21 October from 7pm.

The group is keen to expand its pool of volunteers by welcoming new FOIRS supporters - they may be residents who may wish to help occasionally with practical tasks on the station, assist in managing the area of land soon to be landscaped near the Railway Road entrance, contribute photographs and social‑media posts, or help organise events at the station.

The evening will also feature a guest speaker from Northern Rail, offering insight into current developments and partnership opportunities.

Attendees will hear about why FOIRS was established, its aims, and its achievements to date, as well as an overview of current and future projects. The meeting will also include a short look at the history of Ilkley and Ben Rhydding stations.

All are welcome to attend at the Clarke Foley Community Hub on 21 October between 7pm to 8.15pm.
