Gardening heroes complete flower bed 2 as fundraising for bed 3 starts

Volunteers at the group Improving Ilkley finished planting the second of three new flower beds outside the Station Plaza in Ilkley this week.

Louise Hepworth-Wood from the group thanked all those involved: "It’s finished! The second bed is in and after a lot of hard work from Jo and Jo our volunteers it is fully planted up and looking stunning.

"This bed construction was funded by donations from Ilkley Town Council and Bradford Council to match the private benefactor funding for bed 1. Flowers have been funded by public donations, Ilkley Taxis and support from Moss and Moor. Thank you!"

Work is now focusing on funding bed 3 and Louise explains how individuals and businesses can help: "We are looking for a commercial sponsor. We have a proposal pack available - please get in touch if of interest.

"If you would like to donate to the upkeep of the beds and seasonal flowers you can donate:

2. Text FLOWERBEDS to 70085 to donate £5

3 Text IMPROVINGILKLEY to 70085 to donate £10"

Comments on the Ilkley Chat Facebook page praise the look of the new flower beds, one commenting "That looks amazing- thank you so much for making his area look so beautiful."

Improving Ilkley is a charitable trust that was set up by three trustees all local to town, Karl Milner, Matthew Ward and Louise Hepworth-Wood. Its main aim is to improve areas of Ilkley that are in need of attention by securing funding through council and public donations.
