Grants available to boost Ilkley’s night-time economy

Bradford Council is launching a new grant programme to encourage the use of culture to support the district’s night-time economy.

The Bradford District is in the running for City of Culture 2025 and Bradford Council has launched the grants scheme to inspire people to put on activities and events to bring the district’s streets, towns and neighbourhoods alive with creativity.

The Council is seeking imaginative and affordable projects to bring fresh creative ideas to local high streets, which will provide the opportunity for experimental collaborations between creatives, local businesses and communities.

The grant is for activities taking place any time between January and March 2022 and they can be in Bradford city centre or in any of the towns, villages or neighbourhoods across the district.

There is £20,000 of funding available and people can apply for a grant of up to £1,000 for their individual project. The closing date for grants is 5pm on 7 January 2022.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “We have big ambitions for our district which aim to champion a breadth of cultural and creative opportunities for everyone and celebrate our distinctive cultural and heritage assets. These grants provide an excellent opportunity for local creatives to contribute to these ambitions whilst showcasing their talents and helping the district’s night-time economy.”
