On Saturday, the Ilkley Civic Society 'Ilkley Local History Hub' will see a presentation followed by a discussion about John Shuttleworth and the Ilkley Gazette.
At the start of May 1861 John Shuttleworth started to produce a weekly Ilkley Gazette newspaper. His family continued to work from their shop Gothic House on Brook St until 1920. From 1868/9 the Ilkley Gazette was published every week. John & one of his sons Ernest were photographers documenting the changes in Ilkley from the 1860s.
