After 18 months in the role, the current BID Manager Helen Rhodes is leaving her post to focus on a new business venture with her husband, creating an exciting opportunity for someone new to take over this important role and help shape the future of the economy in Ilkley.
Helen worked for more than 12 months developing the BID proposal and liaising with town centre businesses about what they would like a BID to deliver, resulting in an overwhelming vote in favour of a BID for Ilkley in March 2019. The BID company was formed soon after and became operational on 1st June 2019 for a 5 year term. Since then, Helen has assisted the directors not only in setting the groundwork for some long-term projects but also delivering a wide variety of BID initiatives, including extensive work lobbying on behalf of businesses for improvements to the parking scheme and providing hands-on support to many during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Helen told us ‘Working with Ilkley BID has been a pleasure and something that has been a real passion however, it has quickly become evident that I cannot give the role the level of commitment it needs at the same time as getting a new business up and running. I will miss the interaction with everyone and the variety and fast pace of the job – it has certainly never been boring! My husband Steve and I have taken premises in Ilkley and of course have already signed up to be voluntary BID members!’
Stuart Hyde QPM, Chairman of Ilkley BID added ‘Helen has been a huge asset to Ilkley BID and the board cannot thank her enough for her dedication and commitment to her role. She is staying with us to ensure a smooth handover to her successor and we wish her every success with her new business. For Ilkley, the BID will be more important than ever as the town works to bounce back from the huge impacts of Covid-19 and we are now seeking to appoint a new BID Manager to help us take this into 2021 and beyond.’
