A care home in Ilkley is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration this week.

On Thursday 6 August from 2.30pm – 4.30pm, Care UK’s Mayfield View on Lower Railway Road will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations from around the world and showcase what life in a care home is really like, with dishes, including Poloo, Yema, Samosas and mango lassi’s all prepared by the home’s Head Chef, Kian Tscherniga.

Resident, Diana, said: “I am really looking forward to sampling lots of flavours from around the world which remind me of travelling with my husband.”

Katie Cliff, Home Manager at Mayfield View, said: “We’re so excited to host our very own food festival, which promises to be a memorable day for everyone who comes along.

“At Mayfield View, we’re home to residents and team members from a wonderfully diverse range of cultures. This event is a chance to celebrate them through food, showcasing flavours from Ghana, The Philippines, Romania, Egypt and Eastern Europe. Many are favourites of ours, so we can’t wait for guests to try.

“We look forward to welcoming the Ilkley community for what promises to be a fantastic day of food, culture and connection.”
