Ilkley Colour Rush returns with bigger plans for 2023

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Ilkley Grammar School organised Ilkley’s first ever Colour Rush in June last year, raising a fantastic £3800 for school projects. The PTA wishes to be even more ambitious this year with more racers and more money raised.

This year’s Colour Rush will be held on Sunday 2nd July 2023. Participants will be able to run, jog, walk, hop, skip or jump around a lapped course on the IGS playing fields whilst being covered in colourful paint (corn starch powder)! By the time they finish the course, they will look like a rainbow!

There will be a fun warm up and paint party with Melanie Larkin from Sustain Health & Lifestyle Coaching, plus Rombalds Radio will be there to keep the fun music flowing throughout the day.

Refreshments will also be available via The Coffee Box coffee truck, Rossi’s ice cream van and a PTA Tuck Shop for cold drinks, sweets and snacks.

Jane Wearing, PTA Chair said: "It’s shaping up to be a fantastic family event and tickets are now on sale via the school website, where you can also find out lots more useful information about the event – go to the Colour Rush pages at https://www.ilkleygrammarschool.com/parents/pta/colour-rush/

"When buying your tickets, don’t forget to buy extra paint sachets so you can start getting colourful during the pre-race warm up and paint party.

"You can also volunteer to help at the event – the organisers will need race marshalls on the day and lots of people to help with set up and clear up. You can volunteer via the ticketing page or by contacting the PTA via pta@ilkleygs.co.uk

"Last year, the PTA raised money to further enhance the mental health and wellbeing support provided to students who have faced so many challenges during and in the aftermath of the pandemic. We also invested in sound and lighting equipment to support the work of the Creative Arts department at school (art, music, photography and drama) - an area which struggles to attract funding nationally, but which IGS is committed to supporting and developing further over the coming years through ever-more ambitious and exciting creative projects. There has also been investment in the printing of graphics showing the new school values, durable large format photos of students and events, and lockable frames which are distributed around school providing information about the various ways that students can access support for any aspect of their mental and emotional wellbeing. This year, they aim to continue to support school in a number of further projects which seek to enhance and enrich the student experience at IGS.

"The PTA would like to thank their Colour Rush sponsors: Ison Harrison solicitors, HF Wealth, Balloon World and Rombalds Radio."
