After being crowned Inn of the Year for England, The Penny Bun will now go forward to compete for the overall coveted UK title, which will be announced at the AA Hospitality Awards in September.
The AA inspector commented how "This is the place to go off-grid. Bedrooms with no TVs.", adding:
"The Penny Bun is a new-age inn, part of Denton Reserve, a project which aims to rethink 2,500 acres of Yorkshire countryside while combating climate change. Inside, the style is very earthy, with brown tones, sustainable materials, clay-plaster walls, wood beams and moody lighting. There are 5 screen-free bedrooms upstairs, all of which feature furniture and accessories from independent craftspeople or companies that value sustainability and quality. Meals are served downstairs, in a restaurant with a strong 'Field to Fork' ethos."
