Ilkley Library to close for a week as it moves home

Final works are underway as Ilkley Library gets ready to move back home

Ilkley Library will temporarily close for one week, from 13 to 21 September, as it prepares to return to its newly refurbished home.

After spending around four months in its temporary home at Ilkley Town Hall, Ilkley Library and the Ilkley Visitor Information Centre is getting ready to move back into its refreshed and improved premises.

The short closure will give the library team time to pack up and carefully return the library stock to its new home, ready for the library to welcome the community back.

The refurbished library is looking sparkling and comes complete with new toilets, improved lighting, better heating and even a kitchenette.

Ilkley Library has been at the heart of the town for more than a century. Built in 1906–07 with funding from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, the library forms part of the wider Town Hall complex on Station Road with the King's Hall theatre and Winter Garden.

The team at Ilkley Library say they are looking forward to returning to the space and welcoming everyone back once the move is complete.
