The Ilkley Christmas Lights event won't take place for a second year due to the adverse weather overnight and the warnings currently in place.
The planned Real Food Ilkley Christmas market had already been cancelled earlier in the week, but the final decision for the switch on event was made after Ilkley Town Council held a meeting on site Saturday morning.
On the council's Facebook page it said; "We have made the very difficult decision to cancel the Light Switch On Event today. The unpredictable weather and severe warnings mean that we must keep our community, contractors and volunteers safe and the only way to ensure this is by not running the event."
The lights will still be switched on this weekend, but with no entertainment or Santa.
