Ilkley's over 90s enjoy another wonderful party

The annual Over 90s Party in Ilkley brought together guests, volunteers, performers and members of the local community for a wonderful afternoon of celebration.

The much-loved event took place last Saturday [26 Sept] and was once again a true team effort between Ilkley & District Good Neighbours and the Clarke Foley Community Hub, with both paying tribute to everyone who gave their time, talents and support to make the afternoon so special.

Special thanks go to 1224 (Wharfedale) Squadron, whose enthusiasm and support helped make the event a success, as well as Kate Stevens and Moornotes Community Choir for providing wonderful entertainment. Maz from Balloon World in Addingam added a splash of colour with beautiful balloons, while David Atkinson provided some lovely piano music.

The organisers also expressed their gratitude to Jack Shuttleworth for capturing the event through his photographs, the Subrosa volunteers for giving their time, and Ilkley Community Transport for ensuring that guests could travel safely to and from the celebration.

The event was also honoured by the attendance of Isabel Ashman, Ilkley Town Crier, Deputy Lord Lieutenant Suzanne Watson, Robbie Moore MP, Ilkley Mayor Damian Kearns and Lady Mayoress Hilary Oliver, who all joined in the celebrations, mingled with guests and even found time to sing.

The afternoon provided an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate its older residents and enjoy an afternoon filled with music, friendship and good company.

Next year will mark a particularly special milestone, with the 40th anniversary of the Over 90s Party.
