Around 50 people and their four-legged friends gathered in Ilkley recently for the inaugural Paws for Manorlands charity dog walk, raising an incredible £1,605 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

Organised by the Ilkley Manorlands Fundraising Group, the event followed the popular Three Bridges Walk and was held in memory of Anne, a much-loved local mum who received compassionate care from Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope. Family, friends and supporters came together to celebrate her memory while raising vital funds to support the hospice's work.

Participants enjoyed a wonderful morning of walking, chatting and socialising with fellow dog lovers and their canine companions. Adding to the fun was a dog-themed quiz along the route, which proved popular with walkers of all ages. Congratulations go to the winner of the doggy quiz.

Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as support for their families and loved ones. Services include inpatient care, community nursing, rehabilitation, wellbeing support, complementary therapies and bereavement services, helping people receive the care they need when it matters most. The hospice supports patients across Airedale, Wharfedale, Craven and North Bradford.

The hospice relies heavily on charitable fundraising and donations to continue providing its expert care and support to local families.

Following the walk, participants returned to Ilkley Moor Vaults for a well-deserved cup of tea and the opportunity to celebrate the success of the event together.

The organisers would like to thank everyone who took part, donated, volunteered or supported the event. The fantastic total of £1,605 will help Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice continue its invaluable work supporting local people and their families during some of life's most challenging times.

Plans are already being discussed for next year's walk following the success of this first event. Updates will be posted on the Ilkley Manorlands Fundraising Group Facebook page.
