The Box Tree in Ilkley has appointed Brayden Davies as Chef Patron, with Davies also joining the restaurant’s ownership as it begins a new chapter.

His appointment coincides with a major refurbishment of The Box Tree’s restaurant and bar, inspired by the surrounding Yorkshire landscape and moorland while giving the historic venue a fresh, contemporary identity.

Davies, who joined the restaurant as Head Chef in 2024, has developed a distinctive culinary style combining his Australian roots, modern European training and global influences with exceptional British, European and Yorkshire produce.

His promotion reflects his growing influence on The Box Tree and a shared long-term vision for its future. As Chef Patron, he will continue to lead the kitchen while taking a greater role in the restaurant’s overall direction, guest experience and development.

Davies has previously worked at leading kitchens including The Raby Hunt, Northcote and Grantley Hall alongside Shaun Rankin.

Brayden Davies said: “I am not only excited about this next step as a chef, but also as a restaurateur. The Box Tree has an incredible history, and to now be part of shaping its future is something I’m immensely proud of.

“Since joining the restaurant, I’ve been able to develop a style of cooking that feels personal to me, drawing on my Australian roots, the experiences I’ve had throughout my career and the brilliant produce we have access to here in Yorkshire and further afield.

“This next chapter gives us the opportunity to keep evolving, both in the kitchen and across the restaurant as a whole. We have a fantastic team around us, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming guests back through the doors and showing them what we’ve been working on.”

The Box Tree officially reopens today, Wednesday 9 September 2026, marking the start of a new era of ownership, leadership and dining.
