Two Ilkley charities benefit from Christmas tree sales

Once again Mortens of Ilkley supported local charities with the sale of Christmas trees throughout December.

The hardware store on Cunliffe Road pledged for a third year to donate 10% from the sales of trees to charity, this year being split between Morten’s neighbours, the Clarke Foley Centre and Outside The Box Café, with both charities receiving £1,300.

Mortens manager Steve Senior said: “We would really like to thank all of our customers for supporting not just Mortens, but also the Clarke Foley Center and Outside The Box by buying a Christmas tree.

“As a town we are very fortunate to have some amazing local charities and now more than ever they need our support. With £2,600 this year, the total raised over 3 years is in excess of £5,000.”

As an essential business, Mortens remain open through the ongoing lockdown. They are open Monday to Saturday, 9.30-4.30 and Sunday, 10.30-4.00. They offer a free local delivery service.

Steve added: “We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our customers for the support and encouragement they have given us especially over the past year. Without them there would be no Mortens and we know how fortunate we are to have such loyal customers. We also urge people to support the other local independent businesses. Their doors may be closed but many of them are offering click and collect or delivery services.”
