Veterans enjoy alfresco breakfast at The Wheatley Arms

Members of the Ilkley Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club gathered at The Wheatley Arms in Ben Rhydding for their annual summer alfresco breakfast.
The club, which brings together serving personnel, veterans, their families, friends and supporters from Ilkley and the surrounding district, provides a welcoming and informal place for members of the Armed Forces community to meet, share experiences and enjoy good company.
The annual outdoor breakfast has become one of the most popular events in the club’s calendar. Members enjoyed pleasant summer weather, excellent food and plenty of conversation and good-natured banter on The Wheatley Arms’ impressive terrace.
Club spokesperson Mark Sugrue said: “We always enjoy the opportunity to have breakfast outdoors during the summer. The alfresco breakfast at The Wheatley Arms has become a real club tradition and an event that our members look forward to every year. It is a wonderful setting in which to enjoy good food, friendship and the sense of comradeship that lies at the heart of our club.”
The Wheatley Arms hosts the veterans each year, providing a well-presented outdoor dining area, an excellent full English breakfast and first-class service from its management and staff.
Andy Pye, Manager of The Wheatley Arms, said: “As a community pub, we are always very happy to welcome the Armed Forces veterans of Ilkley and the surrounding district. They are a really good group of people who have earned a respected place within our community, and it is a pleasure to host their annual summer breakfast.”

The Ilkley Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club meets regularly and is open to veterans and serving members from all branches of the Armed Forces, together with their families, friends and supporters. Its aim is simple: to provide friendship, comradeship and an opportunity for members of the local Armed Forces community to stay connected.
The successful morning was enjoyed by everyone attending and further strengthened what has now become a valued annual tradition for both the club and The Wheatley Arms.
