Burley in Wharfedale Community Trust is inviting residents to share their views on accessibility and inclusion through a community survey launched at the end of the Burley Summer Festival.

Early feedback highlights practical improvements, including safer crossings, smoother pavements, better station access, cycling routes and more inclusive community spaces. Other ideas include accessible play equipment, quiet spaces, community gardens, activities for teenagers and clearer local information.

The Accessibility and Inclusion Group is working with residents, community organisations and the Parish Council to identify priorities and turn ideas into action.

As one resident put it, the aim is to ensure there are “opportunities for all to find something they can be involved in.”

Everyone is encouraged to take part, whether or not they have a disability or are a carer. Residents are also asked to share the survey with friends, family and neighbours to ensure as many voices as possible are heard.

Phase one closes on 31 October 2026, although the survey will remain open for further feedback throughout the project. Complete the survey: https://tally.so/r/1A05LO

Dr Caroline Rayment, from Grange Park Surgery and a member of the Group, said: “What comes through clearly is how much people care about Burley in Wharfedale and want everyone to be able to take part in village life. We are grateful to the residents and local organisations who have shared the survey and helped bring forward so many practical ideas. Now we want to keep listening and turn people’s experiences into practical action.”

Residents can also share their views in person at the first Chatty Café at the Red Lion on Wednesday 28 October, 3pm–5pm.

Burley in Wharfedale Community Trust hopes that listening and working together will help deliver practical changes that make village life more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
