What's on at Ilkley Playhouse
Fringe production North Country by Bradford writer Tajinder Singh Hayer runs until 26 September in the Wildman Studio at Ilkley Playhouse. Inspired by sci-fi and local history, the play imagines a post-pandemic world where three teenagers from different cultural backgrounds work together to rebuild their community. The production forms part of a new writing project exploring local history, memory and the future.
On Friday 23 October, Ilkley band Ten Fields make their Playhouse debut, celebrating 10 years of melodic, guitar-led music inspired by Crowded House, Fleetwood Mac and Jackson Browne.
Stagefright Comedy Club returns on Saturday 24 October, headlined by Canadian comedian Bobby Mair, alongside Justina Seselskaite, Jack Wood, Laurence Tuck and Mark Smith, with Anthony J Brown as compere.
David Haig’s Pressure opens on Thursday 29 October and runs until 7 November in the Wharfeside Theatre. This gripping true story focuses on the crucial weather decision made by General Eisenhower ahead of D-Day.
November brings a celebration of music, beginning with Chris Bannister’s tribute to John Denver on Friday 13 November. The Hall Brothers celebrate 35 years together on Saturday 14 November, followed by popular James Taylor tribute band Fire and Rain on Friday 20 November.
