Crowds will be treated to a spectacular stunt display from the main act booked for this years Ilkley Carnival on Monday 2 May.

The 3Sixty Bicycle Stunt Team hold no less than eight Guinness World Records and have promised to wow spectators at the 2022 May Day event.

The pedal-powered extravaganza is sure to delight the audience with an array of high-flying leaps, tricks and skills. In addition, the team have agreed to provide a workshop to youngsters between their performances.

Ian Drummond from the 3Sixty team said “We are delighted to have been asked to perform as the main Carnival act this year. We know that with a two year enforced absence the crowds at the Carnival will be wanting something special and we can’t wait to show them our skills. Ilkley has a great cycling tradition and we hope we can add to that!”

The Bank Holiday spectacular takes place on Monday 2 May. The performance by 3Sixty will take place on the Carnival showground following the day’s annual parade which saw over 1,000 children participate at the last event from local schools and other organisations. This year the theme is ‘Our Planet’ which promises a colourful display through the streets of Ilkley.

Helen Rhodes from Ilkley BID who manage the Discover Ilkley brand are the new sponsors of the main arena at this years’ Carnival. Helen said “We can’t wait for the audience to be blown away by the mesmerising tricks performed by Ian and his colleagues. They are the perfect act for the event and we’re looking forward to seeing human and bike come together in an array of stunts.”

With less than four weeks to go before the event everything is in place for the return of the largest attended single day annual event in the Ilkley calendar. Colin Watson, Advertising and Sponsorship Coordinator for Ilkley Carnival paid tribute to the many local businesses that have sponsored the event, he said “The lamp post banners throughout the town are a great testament to the support we have from the local community and these companies have helped us fund what will be a fantastic event on May Day.” Karen Hitchin, Trade and Charity Coordinator for the Carnival added “The showground is almost full now and I would urge anybody who hasn’t booked yet to do so quickly.”

All profits raised from Ilkley Carnival are returned to the community, with this year’s primary beneficiary, The Friends of Ilkley Moor, receiving 50% of the profits to help fund their ongoing work to protect and enhance one of Ilkley’s greatest assets.
