Yorkshire Ballet Seminar exhibition

Students take class in the Main Hall of Ilkley College

A new exhibition opens this weekend at Ilkley Manor House celebrating 50 years of the Yorkshire Ballet Seminars which took place at Ilkley College from 1973 to 1998.

Running each weekend until 23rd July, the exhibition features photos from a new book, 25 Summers. The book documents the Ilkley period of the course when national and international ballet stars would come to the college to teach, perform and lecture, so that local dance students would be immersed in the world of ballet for several weeks over the summer holidays.

A spokesperson said: "The exhibition of photographs will appeal to local people who remember the Seminars taking place, anybody who is interested in dance or local history, and, of course, anyone who was a student of the Yorkshire Ballet Seminars over its 50 year history. The photographs, along with many more, are included in the book, which is available to buy at Ilkley Manor House during the exhibition."

The Manor House is open Saturdays and Sundays 11am-4pm and entry is free.
