Alternate week bin collections start on Tuesday, 2 May.

Households covered by Bradford Council will be switching to alternate week bin collections starting on Tuesday, 2 May.

The Council will still come every week but will alternate with the general waste bin (green) being emptied one week and the recycling bin or bins the following week. Households can only have one general waste bin but can have more than one recycling bin.

All householders in the area will receive a letter about the scheme with instructions on which bin you will need to put out on which day next week.

Collection dates on the council website and app will be automatically updated from 2 May.

To boost recycling rates, householders can now put all their recyclables including some additional items into one grey bin. This includes glass, plastic bottles, tins, aluminium foil, aerosols, paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, yoghurt pots, butter tubs, plastic food trays, drinks cartons and TetraPacks.

Larger items, excess waste and garden waste - for those who have not signed up to the paid for garden waste collection service - can be disposed of at Household Waste Recycling Centres.

For more information or to request a free recycling bin for those who don’t already have one, please visit: https://www.bradford.gov.uk/recycling, e-mail: council.contact@bradford.gov.uk or telephone 01274 431000.
