Free green event for Ilkley businesses and organisations

Businesses and organisations in Ilkley who are worried about their impact on the environment and want to reduce, recycle and reuse more are invited by Ilkley BID to a ‘Green Evening’ Event on Tuesday 21 January, at The Clarke Foley Centre, to look at practical suggestions and thoughts on how local businesses can reduce their impact on the environment.

Ilkley BID Manager Helen Rhodes explains “Ilkley BID is here to support businesses and work with organisations to lobby for improvement and investments in Ilkley, and with this in mind, we are keen to help businesses look at reducing their own environmental impact.  This of course, will also address another of the BID’s key aims which is to help maintain the town as an attractive place to work and visit.”

Ilkley BID is hosting the FREE meeting and inviting businesses to hear the event’s guest speakers, The Wharfdale Tackles Plastic group and Martin Hyde, to explore ideas to encourage businesses to be more sustainable and eco-friendlier. All businesses in Ilkley are welcome, not just those who are BID members.

Helen ends “Ilkley Town Council recently declared a ‘Climate Emergency’ and Ilkley BID is involved identifying ways that businesses can do their bit. We would like to work with local businesses to see how we can help address some of these issues and talk about ideas for how we can work together on initiatives to improve the green credentials of Ilkley business. We’ve had a few simple suggestions and are keen to hear what businesses see as the priorities in this area that they would like us to take forward.”
