Bowling club to vote on allowing women members

Ilkley Bowling Club members will vote in an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on 3 March on whether to allow women members for the first time in its history.

Being a private members' club, it can set its own rules about who's eligible and who's not.  Currently the rules of the club exclude women from its bar area every weekday, Monday to Thursday - they're only allowed in after 17:00 on a Friday and at weekends as associated members under their partners membership.

​

For the resolution to pass, it requires a two thirds majority of all members attending and voting at the AGM.  If passed, both men and women will be able to apply for membership from 1 July 2020 and will be processed in line with existing membership guidelines and charges.
