New Household Waste Permits

New Household Waste Recycling Centre Permits are being issued this week in a waste information leaflet being issued with residents’ Council Tax bills.

The new permit will replace existing permits issued by Bradford Council. Residents will just need to cut it out and keep handy in their vehicle when they visit the centres to dispose of waste and recycling.

To find out locations and information about what materials can be taken to local recycling centres please go online to the recycling pages or call 01274 431000.

The permits can be used at any of the eight Household Waste Recycling Centres in the Bradford district.

If you can’t get to a recycling centre and need a Bulky Waste Collection, please contact the council on the above online details or telephone number. There is a small charge for the service.

If you are a resident  and own a van or trailer above 1.5m and wish to dispose of household waste then you still need a van permit as the current restrictions on trade vehicles using our recycling centres still remain in place.

Coun Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Environment, Sport and Culture, said: “People need to look out for their new permit when they get their Council Tax bill through the post.

“If you put it in your vehicle it will be ready to show to staff when you take your waste to your local recycling centre.”

People are being warned not to use unlicensed waste carriers as it could make them liable for a criminal prosecution. If their rubbish is fly-tipped, householders can be fined up to £5,000 and end up with a criminal record.

The leaflet also contains information about Bradford Council’s Garden Waste collection service.

It will run from 1 June 2017 to 31 May 2018. People who sign up early get a discount - cost £30 instead of £35 - up to 31 May 2017. You can sign up or get more information at www.bradford.gov.uk/gardenbin or call 01274 43100.

If you have a smart phone or tablet, payment can also be made by using the free Bradford Council App, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
