Airedale Hospital charity visits Addingham for its fifth annual World Book Day adventure

Airedale Hospital & Community Charity hit the open road once again for its fifth annual World Book Day road trip, bringing stories, smiles, and plenty of book‑themed fun to local schools, including Addingham Primary School.
This was all made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of CAD21.
As part of the charity’s ongoing Acts of Kindness campaign, the team spent the day travelling across the district to surprise pupils and teachers with hampers filled to the brim with books about health and wellbeing. Every school visited was chosen through public nomination, giving families, staff, and community members the chance to shine a spotlight on schools they felt deserved an extra-special celebration.
Along with Addingham Primary School, four other local schools were nominated for this year’s World Book Day route: Laycock Primary School, Sutton CofE School, Hellifield Community Primary School and Kildwick CofE Primary School.
What began five years ago as a small idea to brighten up World Book Day has now grown into a much‑anticipated annual tradition and this year’s tour was brighter than ever.

said Laura Hepworth, Community Fundraiser at Airedale Hospital & Community Charity.
To be celebrating our fifth year of bringing the power of reading into the heart of our community feels incredibly special. Thanks to CAD21’s wonderful support, we were able to turn the day into something memorable for hundreds of children — a true act of kindness.”
CAD21, a building services design partner at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, were delighted to help bring the charity’s Acts of Kindness campaign to life again this year.

As the charity continues to champion kindness and community spirit, the World Book Day road trip remains a shining example of what can be achieved through collaboration. With five successful years already behind them, Airedale Hospital & Community Charity looks forward to building on the momentum and inspiring even more young readers in the years ahead.
