Music fans in Ilkley came together on Friday evening for a special Elton John tribute night at The Hollygarth Social Club, raising £1,000 for two charities supporting mental health and cardiac care across the region.

The event was organised by John from Ilkley School of Motoring as a community fundraiser in support of Andy’s Man Club and Take Heart, two organisations providing vital support to people facing significant health challenges.

Providing the evening’s entertainment was Exclusively Elton, a highly acclaimed tribute act widely regarded as one of the most authentic celebrations of Elton John’s music currently performing. Faithfully recreating the arrangements, energy and unmistakable stage flair of the legendary performer, the show delivered a spectacular live experience packed with Elton John’s greatest hits, including Candle in the Wind, Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock and Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me. With striking costumes, accomplished piano performance and remarkable vocal similarity, the act captured the spirit and showmanship of the original artist, creating an atmosphere that had the audience singing along throughout the evening.

Having previously appeared on BBC One’s Even Better Than the Real Thing and performed internationally in venues ranging from theatres to cruise ships, Exclusively Elton brought both musical precision and theatrical flair to the fundraiser, helping make the night a memorable occasion for everyone in attendance.

Supporters from across the town gathered for an evening of entertainment celebrating the iconic music of Elton John. The event combined live performance with a strong sense of community spirit, as attendees enjoyed the music while helping raise funds for the two important causes.

Andy’s Man Club is a UK-wide men’s suicide prevention charity that offers free, peer-to-peer support groups where men can talk openly about their mental health in a safe and non-judgemental environment. With the simple message that “it’s okay to talk,” the organisation has helped thousands of men access support and connect with others who understand their experiences. The charity has grown rapidly in recent years, responding to increasing awareness of the importance of mental health support for men and the need to reduce stigma around seeking help.

Take Heart is a Yorkshire-based charity that supports the wellbeing of cardiac patients and their families. Working closely with cardiac units across the region, the charity provides a range of services and resources designed to improve the experience and recovery of those living with heart conditions. From funding equipment and facilities to supporting patient wellbeing initiatives, Take Heart plays an important role in helping people navigate the challenges of cardiac illness and recovery.

An initial total of £477 was raised for each charity on the night through donations and fundraising activity during the event. Thanks to the generous support of The Midland and the 41 Club, the final total was rounded up to £500 for each charity, bringing the overall amount raised to £1,000.

The evening also saw strong support from local organisations and community groups. Members of Ilkley Pride & Diversity Group and Upstagers Theatre Group were among those attending to show their backing for the fundraiser and the charities involved.

Event organiser John said he was delighted with the response from the community:

“We wanted to bring people together for a fun evening while supporting two fantastic causes. The generosity shown by everyone involved has been incredible, and it’s brilliant that we’ve been able to increase the donations even further thanks to the support of local organisations.”

The fundraiser highlights the strength of Ilkley’s community spirit, with local businesses, organisations and residents coming together to support charities that make a real difference to people’s lives. Events like this demonstrate how communities can work collectively to raise awareness, provide support and generate vital funding for causes that affect many families across the region.
