Ilkley Half organisers thankful of local business support

The Ilkley Half Marathon, organised by Ilkley and District Round Table, takes place on Sunday 11 July 2021 and aims to generate more than £40,000 for good causes in the local area.

After the 2020 event was delayed like many others due to Covid-19, Ilkley Round Table are hopeful that the event will be remembered as a highlight in what has been a challenging time for everyone in the community.

The Ilkley Half Marathon organisers are delighted to have the support of several fantastic businesses:

"Returning as headline sponsors for the event are High Speed Training and Ison Harrison Solicitors who have both been heavily involved in supporting the local community.

"Only last year, High Speed Training donated a significant sum towards the purchase of a revolutionary baby heart incubator as part of the Ilkley Virtual Half Marathon, the first of its kind in Europe.

"Ison Harrison Solicitors set up the Ison Harrison Community Fund to support local charities each year and, in 2019, donated £1 for every Ilkley Half Marathon runner that completed the race.

"The Ilkley Half Marathon is a challenging endeavour for any runner. It is made a little less challenging due to the support of Harrogate Spring Water who kindly donate all of the bottled water for the event. Harrogate Spring Water endeavour to minimise their impact on the environment. Their bottles are 100% recyclable and they are made from 50% recycled PET sourced in the UK.

"With each runner drinking approximately 5 bottles of Harrogate Spring Water, the 10,000 bottles need to be collected and recycled. This is ably delivered by waste management experts Biffa. They deliver the bottles and food waste from the event into their local transfer station before it is recycled. Biffa is the market leader in generating recycled PET, producing a food-grade quality that can be used in bottles again and again.

"Last but by no means least, Aceso Health & Risk are generously supplying the lead car for the event. In keeping with the event's sustainable approach, the vehicle will be fully electric."
