Ilkley Soroptimists present poet Nabeela Ahmed

Ilkley Soroptimists will host writer, poet and spoken-word artist Nabeela Ahmed at St. John’s Church, Ben Rhydding, on Thursday 26 March at 7:30pm.
Nabeela Ahmed, a multilingual voice on identity, family and womanhood, grew up between Bradford and Kashmir, which brings a powerful blend of languages and perspectives to her work.
Her work draws on the two cultures in which she has lived and is written in three languages. Nabeela's debut poetry collection, From Kashmir to Yorkshire, published through Yaffle Press and launched at the 2025 Bradford Literature Festival.
A familiar face on regional and national stages, Nabeela has contributed to major cultural platforms. She helped launch Bradford’s year as City of Culture, hosted the Bradford Writes series to showcase local authors, and organised the first public Pahari Mushaira in Britain. Her broadcasting credits include appearances on BBC Radio 4’s Word of Mouth with Michael Rosen and The Verb, and was named one of the core poets for BBC’s Contains Strong Language.
In addition to public readings, Nabeela runs workshops and outreach for schools and community groups.
