Village Pavilion have announced another exciting musician coming to Ilkley on bank holiday Monday, 4 May.
Arborist will perform at Ilkley Moor Vaults. with support from Serin and BP Walker.
Arborist is Belfast's Mark McCambridge, who first made waves with his debut single "Twisted Arrow" featuring Kim Deal of The Breeders. Since then, Arborist has gone on to support legendary acts including Low, Cat Power, Echo and The Bunnymen, and Guy Garvey of Elbow.
His albums Home Burial and A Northern View earned critical acclaim, with glowing reviews from The Guardian (“instant classic ★★★★”), MOJO (“devastatingly bleak…upliftingly beautiful ★★★★”), and Uncut (“8/10”).
Arborist’s third LP, An Endless Sequence of Dead Zeros, released in April 2023, won the Northern Ireland Music Prize and was recorded at Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, Virginia. Produced by Matthew E White and featuring the Spacebomb Houseband, the album received heavy support from BBC Radio 6Music, including praise from Cerys Matthews, Cillian Murphy, Gideon Coe, and Steve Lamacq. The album’s campaign culminated in a live BBC 6Music Session on Riley & Coe.
Support comes from Serin, a Leeds-based queer/trans folk duo made up of Wren Boon and Lucy Bacon. Their music blends haunting vocal harmonies with powerful violin melodies and delicate guitar work. Their sound has been described as “captivating” and “enchanting,” and their lyrics are a poetic exploration of themes such as gender, queerness, home, and belonging.
Joining the line-up is the elusive Ilkley singer songwriter BP Walker who will be performing new material at the show.
The event starts at 7pm at Ilkley Moor Vaults and tickets are available now for the event via Eventbrite. Follow Village Pavillion on social media for updates on this and future events.
