Ilkley and District Petanque Association are delighted to announce that the National Lottery Community Fund have confirmed a grant that will enable phase two of the works to commence.

Pétanque is a sport that falls into the category of boules sports, in which players or teams play their boules/balls towards a smaller target ball.

A spokesperson for the association said: "Whilst the terrain is able to be used now, the works will include an access path linking into the existing park network, together with a turning point , both of which will provide much better access for the less abled.

"In addition a notice board is being commissioned to provide the relevant club information and contact details and a flagpole together with a Yorkshire and Normandy flag to further cement the relationship with Ilkley’s twin town, Coutances.

"Monies have also been raised for the remaining 2 benches and these will be fitted at the same time as phase 2 works are ongoing.

"All that is now needed is some warmer weather!

"Anyone interested in playing please contact the club by emailing ilkleypetanque@gmail.com"
